Delta State Polytechnic SUG president by name Choice Christopher pays school fees of some students stranded during the exam periods. In her words she said and I quote.
“Our last semester examination was like a pain to some students life because many was about dropping out from school because of incomplete school fees.
Many complains came to my table, being a mother I am, I have to interact with the Management and tell them the plight and pain many students are facing all because of incomplete school fees and how they will all drop out.
Remember NO school fees NO Examination.
I have to intercede for the students to the Management, if they (the students) can pay half payments of twenty thousand naira (#20,000) or twenty-five thousand naira (#25,000) out of our school fees, so they can participate in the examination, which have never happened since the history of the School. My Rector, Deputy Rector, Registrar, Burser and the Librarian gave me a listening ear. And which I will be forever grateful 🙏 to them because they showed and exhibited their fatherly and Motherly love to us.
At this stage, the students were very happy but some couldn't afford the half payment.
I took Four hundred and fifty thousand from my Union money to share for those students who came to my office for assistance of their school fees.
I paid for them but told all, never to repay me or the union but to struggle hard so they can complete the remaining fee.
I saw tears of joy in them and their smile brought peace of mind to me.
I paid series of bills for those that was sick, and those that was also involved in accident. I made sure their bills was paid by my union.
I went ahead to pay for Hospital/ herbal treatment for some students that was involved in Gas explosion.
I also took another One hundred and ten thousand (#110, 000) for treatment of the Amcos President that was involved in a fatal bike accident and when he was refereed to St Luck Asaba for brain Surgery, I donated Extra Five hundred thousand (#500, 000) to contribute for the brain surgery because money needed was 1.7million naira.
Another student from the Department of Business Administration was also involved in an accident which led to cracking of his bone, I and my Dean of Students, went to Isselu -uku to see him and I supported his treatment with the sum of #120, 000.
Many to mention with evidence.
Below are some evidence.
I have never ask of refund from any student Because their happiness was my priority.
Soon I shall be handing over but I feel so happy because many lost hope was restored in my regime”
