Graduate Research Assistant Position at The Ohio State University
Job Description:
The Ma Lab in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at The Ohio State University is currently seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a fully funded PhD/MS research assistant position. The successful candidate will conduct germplasm-related research to characterize genetics resources, study population diversity, explore molecular breeding, and gain insights into genetic mechanisms through genomics, transcriptomics and phenomics in ornamental crops. The goals of Ma's research lab closely align up with the mission of the Ornamental Plant Germplasm Center, which is part of the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System and located within the main campus of The Ohio State University.
Start Date: Fall 2024/Spring 2025
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Required Qualifications
• MS degree (for PhD research assistant applicants)/BS degree (for MS research assistant applicants) in horticulture, plant science, genetics, bioinformatics, plant breeding, or a related discipline

• Demonstrated experience working with R or high performance computing Having experience in designing and conducting greenhouse and field experiment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to publish original research in peer-reviewed journals
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data and execution of bioinformatic pipelines
• Demonstrated experience or training in population genetics study
Demonstrated skills in molecular research
