Graduate Research Assistantship in Poultry Science
The Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University is seeking a highly motivated MS graduate research assistant with interest in Salmonella and Campylobacter challenge and intervention research. This position will start either in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. The research will focus on assessing aerosol transmission of foodborne pathogens and its impact on the respiratory health of broilers. The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct research in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) bird challenge facility
• Develop research protocols
• Perform bacterial challenge experiments and subsequent analysis
• Present research finding at scientific meeting and conference
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Microbiology or closely related field
• Strong oral and written communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills
Desired Qualification
• Prior knowledge and experience in microbiology and molecular biology is preferred Familiar with one or more programming languages, e.g., R, Python
