Two Graduate Research Assistantships (Ph.D.) in Agricultural & Biological Engineering Position Description

Two fully funded Ph.D positions are available for a project lead by Drs. Nuwan Wijewardane (https://apsslab.abe.msstate.edu/). Xin Zhang (https://sites.google.com/view/xin-zhang- lab/home), and Mary Love Tagert (https://www.abe.msstate.edu/people/faculty/mary-love-tagert/) at the Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering, Mississippi State University. Successful candidates should be self-motivated, creative, and have a desire to collaborate under a multidisciplinary environment. They will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals and conference publications. The GRA positions will cover stipends, tuition waiver and insurance, and the anticipated start date is Spring 2025.

Minimum qualifications for GRAS

•

Bachelor's or master's degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Biosystem Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or any other related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• English writing and communication skills

Non-English credentials must obtain a TOEFL score of 79 iBT or IELTS score of 6.5 or higher

Preferred qualifications for GRAS

• Knowledge and experience on image data analysis, phenotyping, GIS, and/or mechatronics

• Programming skills (e.g., Python, R, or Matlab)

• Proficiency in machine learning

• Record of previous scientific communications (journal articles or/and conference publications)
